Most flooring guides explain the method in general terms and leave the hard part to you: working out where the first row goes, how long each piece should be, and whether the offcut is long enough to reuse. FloorLayGuide does that part for your exact room.
How the plans are made
The planner subtracts the expansion gap from your room outline, sets out the rows or pattern from your start corner, and checks every piece against common installation rules: minimum piece length, joint stagger, minimum row width and the right gap for the material. It reuses offcuts the way an experienced installer would, and counts the planks actually needed.
Our guides
The guides on this site follow common manufacturer instructions and industry practice. Products differ, so the instructions in the box always come first. When in doubt, ask the retailer or manufacturer.
How we make money
The planner is free. Some product links on this site are Amazon affiliate links: as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. We only link to the kind of products a plan actually calls for.
